(a): Yes, Sir. An impact assessment study of the North East Industrial Policy,
1997 was conducted by the Tata Economic Consultancy Services (TECS) in 2004. As per the
study, for the period from 1999 to September, 2004, a total number of 681 units were set
up in the North East with a total investment of Rs.1,067.28 crore and direct employment
generated was 20,709.
(b): No target was fixed.
(c): Based on recommendation of the TECS impact assessment study, a new North East
Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (NEIIPP), 2007 has been notified on 1.4.2007,
which is expected to boost industrial development & employment in the region.
