(a) whether the Government is aware that as many as 9,291 farmers have committed suicide between 2000 and 2018 in six districts of Punjab according to a Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) study;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the marginal and small farmers were the chief victims of suicide;
(d) whether 75 percent of farmers who have committed suicide were between the ages of 19 and 35 years; and
(e) if so, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (e): The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) maintains records of suicides by farmers in the country. The NCRB maintains its data only in terms of farmers/cultivators and agricultural labourers, gender-wise (Male, Female, Transgender). As per NCRB report, a total number of 1805 farmers committed suicide during the years 2000-2018, in Punjab.
