Question : REHABILITATION OF TRIBAL GROUPS



(a) whether members of primitive tribal groups are displaced/being displaced temporarily or permanently due to various power projects currently being implemented by the Government in the country;

(b) if so, the details of such tribes displaced, State-wise and project-wise;

(c) whether the Government has formulated or proposes to formulate any action plan for rehabilitation and resettlement of such tribes;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) : No Primitive Tribal Groups (PTGs) has been displaced/being displaced in the country due to various power projects, currently being implemented by Public Sector Undertakings(PSUs) under the Central Government.

(b) : Does not arise.

(c) & (d) : The Government has formulated a National Rehabilitation & Resettlement Policy, 2007(NRRP-2007). The provisions of the NRRP-2007 provide for the basic minimum requirements, and all projects leading to involuntary displacement of people must address the rehabilitation & resettlement issues comprehensively. The State Governments, Public Sector Undertakings or agencies, and other requiring bodies shall be at a liberty to put in place greater benefit levels than those prescribed in the NRRP-2007.

(e) : Does not arise.
