Question : Operation of Cheaper Domestic Flights

(a) whether the Government has formulated any scheme to facilitate cheaper air journey to the general public and if so, the details thereof;

(b) if not, the steps proposed to be taken by the Government for operation of cheaper domestic flights;

(c) the names of the States in which the Government proposes to implement this system; and

(d) the details of the rates likely to be made applicable, State-wise?

(a) to (c): The Ministry of Civil Aviation launched Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme on 21-10-2016 for providing connectivity to un-served and under-served airports of the country. The primary objective of RCS is to facilitate/ stimulate regional air connectivity by making it affordable. Promoting affordability of Regional air connectivity is envisioned under RCS by supporting airline operators through concession by Central Government, State Government and Airports Authority of India.;

(d): Price applicable under RCS-UDAN ranges from Rs. 1420/- for 150 kilometers to Rs. 3500/- for 800 kilometers.
