Question : Solar-Wind Energy Generators

(a) whether the Government proposes to install solar-wind energy generators in fisheries across the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government also proposes to promote the scheme/programme by educating fishermen about climate change;
(d) if so, the details thereof, and
(e) the funds to be allocated, released and utilized for the said purpose during the current year, State-wise?

(a)&(b) The Government, presently, has no specific scheme for installing solar-wind energy generators for fisheries across the country.

(c)to(e) The Department of Fisheries has reported that National Policy on Marine Fisheries, 2017 provides for encouraging focused studies on climate change impacts on fish stocks and fishing communities, besides implementation of adaptation options in a time-bound manner. It also provides for encouraging the concept of green fisheries by reducing Green House Gases (GHG) emissions from fishing and fishing related activities.

Department of Fisheries has further reported that it is implementing a scheme, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) with an investment of Rs.20,050 Crore in the fisheries sector, over a period of five years from FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25 in all States/Union Territories. Under the scheme, Viable proposals for New advances in fisheries and aquaculture in the activities under innovations and innovative interventions are encouraged and supported under PMMSY. No such proposal has been received under PMMSY during the current Financial Year.
According to Department of Fisheries, no funds have since been released by them.
