Question : Khelo India-National Programme for Development of Sports

(a) the objectives of the "Khelo India National Programme for Development of Sports" in the country;
(b) whether the said programme has provisions for setting up of sports academies/training centres under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode and if so, the details thereof;
(c) the funds allocated and released under the said programme since its inception, State/UT-wise;
(d) the details of projects undertaken under the said programme, State/UT-wise; and
(e) whether the Government has received proposals from various State Governments including Karnataka for organizing sports events and for setting up of sports academies/training centres under the said programme and if so, the details thereof along with the action taken thereon by the Government?

(a) Objectives of the Khelo India scheme include mass participation of the young population in Sports through annual sports competitions, identification of sporting talent, nurturing of sporting talent through
sports academies, and creation of sports infrastructure at Block, District, and State/UT levels.
(b) No, Madam.
(c) to (e) The scheme is demand-driven. Proposals, as and when received from States, if complete in all respects, and found feasible are considered subject to availability of funds.
