Question : Violation of Safety Rules

(a) whether the Government has taken note of incidents of violation of safety rules by pilots of airlines in the country in the recent past;

(b) if so, the details thereof during the last three years and the current year, incident-wise and carrier-wise;

(c) whether the Government has taken any action against the erring pilots;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the other steps taken/being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (d) During the last three years including current year, several incidents of violation of safety rules by pilots of airlines have taken place in which the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken action. The incident-wise and carrier-wise details and action taken by DGCA are attached as Annexure-I, Annexure-II and Annexure-III.

(e) (i) The concerned Airlines educate their pilots during trainings regarding air safety and alcohol abuse.

(ii) DGCA has issued unambiguous instructions regarding PPC (Pilot Proficiency Check).

(iii) DGCA carries out Surveillance/Audit as per Annual Surveillance Program. Deficiencies observed are followed with concerned operator for appropriate corrective action.
