Question : IMPORT OF KEROSENE BY PRIVATE SECTOR



(a) whether the Government have laid down any guidelines and norms for parallel marketing of kerosene by the private sector companies;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government have also fixed any ports for import of kerosene by the private sector companies;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Indian Oil Corporation Limited has signed any Memorandum of Understanding with these private sector companies to provide infrastructural facilities at the ports to these companies; and

(f) if so, the details thereof ?

(a) & (b): Government have allowed the private parties to import and market kerosene under Parallel Marketing Scheme (PMS) at market determined prices. Apart from fulfilling the statutory requirements, a rating certificate from any of the notified agencies is also required before entering into Parallel Marketing Scheme by any parallel marketeer.

(c)No, Sir.

(d) Does not arise.

(e) &(f): During the period 1993-94 to 1997-98, Indian Oil Corporation extended the assistance to some of the private parties for import facilitation and tankage assistance at Kandla, Mumbai, Chennai, Paradip and Haldia Ports.
