Question : Gramin Bhandaran Yojana


(a) the number of godowns set up by the Government in Maharashtra under Gramin Bhandaran Yojana since its inception;

(b) the details of funds allocated and spent by the Government thereunder during the said period of time;

(c) the number of farmers benefited from the said scheme in the State; and

(d) the details of increase in storage capacity after construction of godowns sanctioned under the said scheme?

(a): 3194 godowns have been set up in Maharashtra under Grameen Bhandaran Yojana (GBY) since its inception on 01.04.2001 to September, 2015. The GBY has been subsumed as Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure (AMI) sub-scheme of Integrated Scheme for Agricultural Marketing (ISAM) since 01.04.2014.

(b): It is a demand driven scheme and no State- wise allocation is made. However, during this period the Government has allocated Rs. 3270.26 crore and spent Rs.2158.33 crore in the country, under the Scheme. Out of it, Rs. 191.30 crore has been spent in the state of Maharashtra.

(c): A total of 3194 godowns under the scheme have been constructed in Maharashtra, directly benefiting number of Agri-preneurs including farmers. However, a large number of farmers indirectly got benefitted by storing their produce in these godowns.

(d): As in June, 2015, the total storage capacity in Maharashtra was 104.33 Lakh MT. This includes the storage capacity of 50.02 Lakh MT with different storing agencies while that created under GBY is 54.31 Lakh MT.
