Question : AYUSH Hospital in Gujarat

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI,SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) the number of details of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) hospitals in the country, State/UT-wise, Stream-wise including Gujarat;

(b) the number of doctors and other para-medical staff in each of the traditional system of medicine, State/ UT-wise, Region-wise, hospital-wise, Stream-wise; and

(c) the steps being taken by the Government to supplement the efforts of various State Governments to promote AYUSH System of medicine, State/UT-wise including Gujarat?

(a): The number of details of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) hospitals in the country, State/UT-wise, Stream-wise including Gujarat is furnished at Annexure-I.

(b): The number of doctors in each of the traditional system of medicine, State/ UT-wise, Stream-wise is furnished at Annexure –II. However ,as Public Health is a State subject, the information regarding the number of doctors in each of the traditional system of medicine, Region-wise, hospital-wise and the number of other para-medical staff in each of the traditional system of medicine, State/ UT-wise, Region-wise, hospital-wise, Stream-wise is not maintained by the Central Government as it comes under the purview of the respective State/UT Governments.

(c): The Ministry is supplementing the efforts of various State Governments including Gujarat to promote AYUSH system of medicine through Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) by providing financial assistance to them as per the proposals received through their State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs). The National AYUSH Mission (NAM) inter-alia makes provision for the following:-

(i) Co-location of AYUSH facilities at Primary Health Centers (PHCs), Community Health Centers (CHCs) and District Hospitals (DHs).

(ii) Supply of essential drugs to AYUSH Hospitals and Dispensaries.

(iii) Up gradation of exclusive State Government AYUSH Hospitals and Dispensaries.

(iv) Setting up of up to 50 bedded integrated AYUSH Hospital.

(v) Upgradation of State Government Educational Institutions.

(vi)Setting up of new State Government AYUSH Educational Institutions including Yoga and Naturopathy in the State where it is not available.

(vii) Strengthening of State Government/ Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy (ASU&H) Pharmacies and Drug Testing Laboratories (DTL).

(viii) Cultivation and Promotion of Medicinal Plants.

(ix) Upgradation of Health facilities (AYUSH Dispensaries and Health sub-centers) into AYUSH Health and Wellness Centre.
