Question : APPLICATION UNDER PMEGP



(a) the number of applications received and cleared for setting up of small industries under the Prime Minister`s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) during each of the last three years, State/UT-wise;

(b) the steps taken by the Government to clear the pending applications;

(c) whether the Government proposes to raise the time limit of loan funding under Programme; and

(d) if so, the details thereof ?

(a): Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) is a credit-linked subsidy programme for assisting unemployed youth and traditional artisans for setting up micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector. The programme is implemented by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), State/UT Khadi and Village Industries Boards (KVIBs) and District Industries Centres (DICs) with KVIC as the nodal agency at national level, and credit is provided by Banks. The State/UT-wise number of applications received by implementing agencies under PMEGP during each of the last three years and forwarded to Banks by District level Task Force Committees (DTFCs) as also the number of cases disbursed are given in Annex.

(b): An allocation of Rs.1228.44 crore was made in 2012-13 to meet the margin money requirement of pending and new cases.

(c)&(d): At present, there is no proposal under the consideration of the Government to alter the time limit of loan funding under PMEGP. However, Banks have been allowed time upto 31 May 2013 to disburse cases sanctioned by Banks under PMEGP upto 31 March 2013.
