(a): Yes, Sir. Ministry of Tourism promotes Green Tourism (Environment Friendly Tourism) in the country through various initiatives.
(b) & (f): Ministry of Tourism provides financial assistance under Swadesh Darshan Scheme for development of tourism related infrastructure and facilities in the country. Recognizing the potential for the development of Green Tourism in the country, the Ministry of Tourism has identified “Eco Circuit", "Wildlife Circuit" and "Himalayan Circuit" among 15 thematic circuits under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
Apart from the above, Ministry of Tourism has also formulated a draft National Strategy and Roadmap for Sustainable Tourism with focus on Eco Tourism and Adventure Tourism in the country. In order to make the document more comprehensive, Ministry of Tourism has invited feedback/ comments/ suggestions on the draft National Strategy and Roadmap from identified Central Ministries, all the State Governments/UT Administrations and industry stakeholders.
(c) & (d): The Government of India have not entered into “Memorandum of Understanding” and “Technological Agreement” with other countries to develop and to promote “Green Tourism” in the country. However, India proposed BRICS alliance for Green Tourism to promote measures which can shape a more resilient, sustainable and inclusive tourism sector, which was adopted in the BRICS Tourism Ministers Meeting held on 13 July 2021.
(e): There is no dedicated budget allocation for promotion of Green Tourism. However, the details of the projects sanctioned under the Eco Circuit, Wildlife Circuit and Himalayan Circuit themes of Swadesh Darshan Scheme in the Country are given at Annexure.
