Question : NEW RAIL LINES IN UTTARANCHAL



(a) whether the Government has a proposal to lay new rail lines in Uttaranchal;

(b) if so, the details thereof and action taken thereon and name of the new railway tracks;

(c) whether the Government propose to set up computerised centre near the Tehsil Headquarters of Uttaranchal; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and action taken thereon?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2194, ASKED BY SHRI BACHI SINGH RAWAT “BACHDA” TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 22.07.2004 REGARDING NEW RAIL LINES IN UTTARANCHAL.

(a)&(b): Yes, Sir. The work of construction of new rail line from Kichha to Khatima via Nanakmata, Sitarganj (57.7 kms) at an approx. cost of Rs.165.67 crore has been included in Supplementary Budget 2003-04. Final Location Survey is being taken up. An outlay of Rs. 5.37 crore has been proposed for the work in the Budget 2004-05.

(c): There is no policy to provide computerized Passenger Reservation Centres near the Tehsil Headquarters in any part of the country.

(d): Does not arise.
