Question : Development of Solar Parks and Ultramega Solar Power Projects

(a) the salient features of the schemes for Development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects and Pilot-cum Demonstration Projects for development of Grid connected Solar PV Power Plants on Canal Banks and Canal Tops, ''Solar Pumping'' Programme for irrigation and Drinking Water Scheme;

(b) the targets fixed under each of these schemes/programmes during last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise;
(c) whether the said targets have been achieved, if so, the details thereof along with the manner in which the States in the country are likely to be benefited therefrom; and
(d) the total budgetary allocation made for each of the schemes/programmes during the said period, State/UT-wise?

Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR POWER, COAL & NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) (SHRI PIYUSH GOYAL)

(a): The salient features of the schemes for Development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects and Pilot-cum Demonstration Projects for development of Grid connected Solar PV Power Plants on Canal Banks and Canal Tops, ''Solar Pumping'' Programme for irrigation and Drinking Water Scheme are given at Annexure-I.
(b): No state-wise targets are fixed under the schemes. The scheme-wise targets fixed are as under:-
Scheme Target
Development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects 20,000 MW
Pilot-cum Demonstration Projects for development of Grid connected Solar PV Power Plants on Canal Banks and Canal Tops 100 MW
''Solar Pumping'' Programme for irrigation and Drinking Water Scheme 1,00,000 Solar Pumps
(c): The schemes were approved during the year 2014-15 only. Government has sanctioned so far 27 Solar Parks of aggregate capacity of 18,418 MW in 21 states against the target of 20,000 MW.
Under the Solar PV Power Plants on Canal Banks and Canal Tops, Government has sanctioned 100 MW projects against the target of 100 MW during financial years 2014-15 and 2015-16 upto 30.11.2015. Similarly, under Solar Pump programme, a total 1,38,267 Solar Pumps have been sanctioned throughout the country and 34,941 pumps have been installed against the target of 1,00,000 solar pumps. The Country will get distributed generation, energy access, clean energy at affordable prices and will have socio-economic and health benefits of curbing the environment pollution through use of renewable energy for incremental capacity addition. Under Solar Pumps programme, MNRE has also made provision in guidelines for injection of surplus power in the grid so that farmers can get some returns on the investment.

(d): There is no separate budget allocation for the schemes under reference and funds are provided from Ministry’s budget. However, State-wise details of funds released are given at Annexure-II, Annexure-III and Annexure-IV for Solar Parks Scheme, Canal Top & Canal Bank scheme and solar pump programme respectively.
