Question : Pending Expressway Projects

(a) the details of expressway projects sanctioned by the Government, project-wise and the targets fixed for their construction so far;

(b) the number of pending expressway projects and the reasons therefor and the steps being taken by the Government for its speedy completion;

(c) the details of foreign companies including China involved in the construction of these projects;

(d) whether the Government proposes to set up any panel for monitoring the implementation of expressway projects; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) Earlier, Govt. of India had approved a plan for constructing 1000 km of Expressways under NHDP Phase-VI at the cost of Rs. 16,680 cr on DBFOT basis. Recently, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs hasapproved the BharatmalaPariyojana Program under which expressway projects (Ahmedabad-Dholera, Vadodara-Mumbai, Delhi-Meerut, Kanpur-Lucknow, Chennai-Bangalore, Delhi-Amritsar-Katra& Delhi-Jaipur) of aggregate length 1837 km. are envisaged to be developed. Out of these, 800 Km Expressways is to be implemented in Phase-I of Bharatmala Pariyojana for which an outlay of Rs. 40,000 croreshas been approved. In addition to above, Govt. had also approved one more expressway, namely, Eastern Peripheral Expressway for a length of 135 km., which is in progress.

(c) Presently, Eastern Peripheral Expressway and Delhi-Meerut Expressway is at construction stage. The details of the Contractor/Concessionaire for the projects is as under:
