STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) AND (B) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 418 TO BE ANSWERED ON 23.03.2020 ASKED BY SHRI RAJENDRA DHEDYA GAVIT REGARDING TRADITIONAL TRIBAL ART AND CULTURE PROGRAMME UNDER PMKVY
(a) and (b) Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is implementing Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) (2016-20) for imparting short duration skill development training under the component of Short Term Training (STT) and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in the country including state of Maharashtra. Under PMKVY (2016-20), training is being imparted in more than 1800 job roles of 38 different sectors including various job roles of traditional arts and crafts. Under the scheme, provisions have been made to promote traditional arts and crafts in the country through imparting training in this sector. Such provision includes that State/UTs have been given flexibility to allocate upto 25% of their total allocated target for imparting skill training in State specific job roles and the sector of local traditional arts and crafts.
Under PMKVY (2016-20), till now, 73,667 candidates have been trained/oriented (4,667 trained under STT and 69,000 oriented under RPL) in various traditional job roles in the country. These job roles include like carpet weaving, carving artisans, beading artisans, bamboo mat weaver, tarakashi jeweller, decorative painter, sketching & painting artisans, fashion jewellery, crochet Lace trailers, hand embroiderer etc. Out of these, 1093 candidates have been trained in State of Maharashtra under job role ‘Crochet Lace Trailers’ of Handicrafts sector.
Additionally, Under Jan Shikhan Sansthan (JSS) Scheme, training in warli painting is being imparted in the State of Maharashtra.
