Question : FOREIGN UNIVERSITIES IN INDIA

(a) whether the Government is planning to permit foreign universities particularly US universities to open colleges in India; and

(b) if so, the details in a comprehensive manner thereof ?

(a): A legislative proposal, namely, The Foreign Educational Institutions (Regulation for Entry and Operations) Bill, 2010 has been introduced in Lok Sabha on 3.5.2010. The Bill seeks to put in place a mechanism to regulate the entry and operations of reputed foreign educational institutions from any foreign country, including USA.
