(a) the details of various cultural activities taking place in the country;
(b) the number of cultural programmes held by the Department during the last three years, State-wise; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government to maximise the number of these
activities alongwith the funds allocated during the last three years and to be allocated during 2000-2001 for the purpose, State-wise ?

(a) to (c) The Department of Culture in the Government of India does not compile information regarding the various cultural activities taking place in the country. Nor does it directly organise cultural programmes. The Department however does allocate funds to various attached offices, autonomous bodies and voluntary organisations, under its aegis, to operate schemes for the propagation and promotion of the Performing Arts.
The Department received the following funds under Plan and Non-Plan in the preceding 3 years. Figures shown against the year 2000-2001 are still at the proposal stage.
