Question : Attacks on Army Camps

(a) the details of attacks on army camps took place during each of the last three years;

(b) the details of death toll and other losses reported therefrom;

(c) the steps being taken to compensate the families of victims of such attacks;

(d) the steps being taken to avoid such attacks in future by terrorists; and

(e) whether lack of intelligence inputs is hurting army and if so, the details thereof and the corrective measures taken to avoid such incidents?

(a) & (b): Details of terrorist attacks on Army Camps in J&K for the past three years are as under:-

There have been no terrorist attacks on Army Bases/establishments in rest of India.
Other losses include physical damage to the infrastructure, weapons and other administrative stores.
(c) Details of ex gratia lump sum compensation being paid to the Next of Kin (NOK) of Defence personnel are as under:-

In addition, other benefits such as liberalized family pension, death-cum-retirement-gratuity, etc. are granted as per extant rules.
The ex-gratia/compensation is paid to civilians/Security Forces personnel killed as per extant guidelines of Central Armed Police Forces/State Government.
(d) Government has issued broad guidelines for Security of Defence Installation on 28/11/2016 to the Defence Services. In compliance to the said Guidelines, the Defence Services have taken a number of actions including risk categorisation of military bases; appraisal and up-gradation of intelligence gathering capabilities; strengthening and streamlining of the response mechanism; Unmanned aerial Vehicles (UAVs); periodic security audit of all military installations etc.
(e) All out efforts, in conjunction with other intelligence agencies, are made to gather maximum intelligence inputs which are expeditiously shared with the concerned formations / units.
