Question : REVENUE GENERATION PROJECT



(a) whether any proposal has been drawn up to assist Revenue Generation Projects for development of tourism infrastructure in public-private partnership and in partnership with State Government;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the present status of its implementation;

(c) whether the Government has received any Tourism Infrastructure Development proposal from the State of Jammu & Kashmir; and

(d) if so, the progress made in this regard?

(a) & (b):Yes, Sir. The Ministry of Tourism promotes large revenue generating projects for development of tourism infrastructure in public private partnerships and in partnership with other Government/Semi-Government agencies under its scheme “Assistance to Large Revenue Generating Projects”. The projects like Tourist Trains, Cruise Vessels, Cruise Terminals, Convention Centres, Golf Course etc. qualify for financial assistance with a cap of Rs.50.00 crore, subject to a maximum of 25% of total project cost or 50% of equity contribution of the private promoter, whichever is lower.

(c): Yes, Sir.

(d): The Ministry of Tourism, based on the project proposals which were complete in all respect received from the State Government of Jammu & Kashmir, has sanctioned Rs.46.75 crore for 22 projects related to tourism infrastructure development in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the year 2006-07.
