Question : SHIFTING OF T.V. TRANSMITTER IN CHIRGAON (SHIMLA )



(a) whether the very low power TV transmitters proposed to be set up in Jatingari, Kaza and Chirgaon in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh during the year 2002-2003 have already been set up;

(b) if so, whether the installed transmitter in Chirgaon, district Shimla is not covering its envisaged area as it is in the back of a hill and the local people have repeatedly requested to shift it to another place; and

(c) if so, the action taken/likely to be taken by the Government and the time by which the said transmitter would be shifted to another place?

(a): VLPTs at Jatingari and Chirgaon have been commissioned into service w.e.f. 1.5.2003. Installation of VLPT at Kaja has just been completed.

(b): VLPT at Chirgaon is reported to be functioning normally and provides coverage within a range of about 8 Kms. However, certain pockets, though in the coverage zone of the transmitter are not covered due to hilly terrain conditions. No request for change of location of the above VLPT has been received.

(c): Does not arise.
