Question : EXPANSION OF AIRSTRIP OF GAYA AIRPORT



(a) whether the Government have decided to expand the present airstrip at Gaya to facilitate Airbus 320 to land in order to boost the tourism at Budhist places in Bihar;

(b) if so, the details thereof including the cost; and

(c) the time by which it is likely to be completed and made operational?

(a), (b) & (c) :- Airports Authority of India has taken up the following works at Gaya airport, which are likely to be completed by June, 2003.



(i) The strengthening of runway, expansion and strengthening of Apron, widening of approach road, at the cost of Rs.15 crores.



(ii) Construction of new terminal building with modern passengers amenities to cater to 300 passengers at a time and car park area at an estimated cost of Rs.17 crores.
