Question : NATIONAL INTEGRATION AMONG YOUTH



(a) whether the Government has any schemes to encourage the youth in promoting National Integration;

(b) if so, the details of activities being undertaken under such schemes and the names of the implementing agencies;

(c) the details of funds sanctioned/released during each of the last three years and current year, scheme-wise and State-wise; and

(d) the further steps being taken by the Government in this regard?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF YOUTH AFFAIRS & SPORTS (SHRI AJAY MAKEN)

(a) Yes, Madam. The Government is implementing a youth programme called Promotion of National Integration under the National Programme for Youth and Adolescent Development (NPYAD) Scheme.

(b) The different activities carried out under the programme are holding of National Integration Camps, Inter-State Youth Exchange Programme, Multi-Cultural Activities, National Youth Festival, State Youth Festival and National Youth Award. The implementing agencies for holding the National Youth Festival, State Youth Festival and National Youth Awards are the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the concerned State Governments, whereas, for holding the National Integration Camps, Inter-State Youth Exchange Programme and Multi-Cultural Activities, the implementing agencies are the Recognized / Empanelled All India Level Organizations including the Ministry’s own organizations such as Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangthan (NYKS) and National Service Scheme (NSS).

(c) The State-wise details of funds sanctioned/released to carry out the National Integration Programme during the last three years and current year, are given in annexure – I.

(d) The Government is in the process of reviewing the scheme and modification, if requires, will be made and implemented in the 12th Five Year Plan.
