(a): Yes, Madam. Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) was constituted in 1985 keeping in view the pendency of large number of cases relating to service matters before various courts. It was aimed to deal exclusively with service matters that would go a long way in not only reducing the burden of the various courts thereby giving them time to deal with other cases, but would also provide to the persons covered under by the Tribunals, speedy relief in respect of their grievances. CAT, with its 17 Benches spread across country and having circuit Benches at 21 places, caters to the need of the employees of Government of India wherever they are posted.
The status of pending cases in CAT since its establishment is placed at Annexure-‘A’. Break-up of pending cases in terms of period of pendency is placed at Annexure-‘B’.
(b) & (c): There is no Delhi Administrative Tribunal established for the employees of Delhi Government/ NCR. However, a Principal Bench of CAT is located at Delhi, where, the status of pendency cases as on 31.12.2018 is as under:
