Question : Funds Allocated for TB Eradication

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the total number of TB patients presently registered/enrolled for medical treatment in the hospitals across the country as on date, State/UT-wise;

(b) the amount allocated and utilised by the Government to eradicate TB in the country, State/ UT-wise;

(c) the allocations by the Government towards the India TB Research Consortium (ITRC) on a yearly basis from financial years 2016-17 to 2019-20; and

(d) the number of grants and the nature and value of grants given by ITRC so far?

(a): Total number of TB patients notified across the country as on date-state/UT-wise is placed at Annexure – I.

(b): The amount allocated and utilized by the Government – State/UT wise for the year 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 – placed at Annexure – II.

(c): The Standing Finance Committee was approved in December 2017’. And the budget for FY 17-18 was allocated in Feb. 2018. The budget allocated for ITRC for different FY is as below:

FY 2016- 2017 - NA
FY 2017-2018 - Rs. 8.5 Crs
FY 2018-2019 - Rs. 30 Cr.
FY 2019-2020 - Rs. 30 Cr.

(d): Total number of grant/projects was 33.

The nature of the grant: The grants pertain to research work on TB in different thematic areas of diagnostics, therapeutics, vaccines and implementation and operational research.
The total value of the grant/projects is Rs. 72.06 Cr.

The total expenditure (budget released) till date is: Rs.49.94 Cr.

The Committed expenditure for FY 19-20 is 8.67 Cr
