Question : MODERNISATION AND EXPANSION OF HOSPITALS IN DELHI



(a) whether the Government has chalked out plans for the expansion and modernization of Central Government Hospitals in the Capital;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the amount already spent/ likely to be incurred for purpose during the last three years including the current year?

(a) to (c): Modernization of Central Govt. Hospitals in the Capital under the Administrative Control of this Ministry is a continuous process. The Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) has been established in the Safdarjung Hospital. The Government of India is contemplating a Redevelopment Plan of Safdarjung Hospital for its expansion and modernization during 11th Five Year Plan. Casualty and Emergency Department (Trauma Centre) in Dr. RML Hospital has been strengthened and upgraded at a copy of Rs.50.11 Crore incurred so far. PGIMER at Dr. RML Hospital has been set up at a cost of Rs.60.16 Crore. In addition, Request for Proposal for Redevelopment Plan for Lady Hardinge Medical College & Associated Hospitals (LHMC) has been invited.
