(a) whether the Government propose to discourage its policy of giving free tickets to its employees and their families;

(b) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(c) the financial loss incurred by Air India and Indian Airlines annually in giving its employees and their families free tickets?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION ( SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK )

(a), (b) & (c): There is no policy of giving free tickets to Government employees and their families. However, the employees of Air India and Indian Airlines are extended free/concessional passage benefits under their passage regulations. There is no financial loss incurred as this facility is extended, as a welfare measure, strictly on `Subject to Load` basis as per passage regulations.
