(a) whether the Government has any proposal regarding entire rejuvenation of existing railway recruitment policy in the wake of recent train accidents;
(b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(a) & (b) No, Madam. Indian Railways have a well defined and detailed procedure for recruitment, with adequate in-built checks and balances. Railway recruitment policy keeps evolving over years on a continual basis making suitable changes in all aspects, keeping in view the requirement of the job and ensuring transparency and fairness. Selection is strictly on the basis of merit.
