Question : Solar Systems in Odisha

(a) the number of villages including tribal and economically backward villages under Solar Light System in Odisha;

(b) the criteria fixed to implement Solar Light System in the villages; and

(c) the expenditure incurred on Solar Light System in Odisha during the last three years?

Answer given by the minister

(a): As informed by Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency, a total of 1663 villages including tribal and economically backward villages have been covered under Solar Light System in Odisha.

(b): The criteria fixed to implement Solar Light System in the villages is as follows:
1. All census unelectrified villages and their hamlets not covered under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana.
2. Unelectrified hamlets of the electrified census villages having population above 100 but less than 300 and which have not been covered for grid connection under RGGVY.
(c): Expenditure incurred on Solar Light Systems in Odisha during the last three years is as follows:
2012-13- Rs. 15.71 Crores
2013-14- Rs. 14.49 Crores
2014-15- Rs. 1.13 Crores
