(a) The Government of India has been implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, National Food Security Mission- Oilseeds & Oil palm (NFSM-OS&OP) from 2018-19. Now the Government has launched a separate Mission for Oil Palm which is the National Mission for Edible Oils (Oil Palm)- NMEO (OP). Both NFSM- Oilseeds and NMEO (OP) are being implemented in the country with the objective of augmenting the availability of edible oils by increasing the production and productivity of oilseeds and oil palm and reducing the import burden. NFSM- Oilseeds has three broad interventions viz., seed components, production inputs and transfer of technology. NMEO (OP) has been launched by targeting an additional 6.5 lakh hectare area from 2021-22 to 2025-26.
(b) to (d): Yes Sir. The Government has approved 8,20,600 seed mini-kits of Rapeseed and Mustard (R&M) for distribution in Rabi 2021-22. The mini kits are of 2 kg size, consisting of seeds of high yielding varieties having productivity of more than 20 quintals per hectare, for distribution in 343 identified districts of 15 States including Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. Details of seed mini-kits of Rapeseed and Mustard (R&M) allocated State-wise during Rabi 2021-22 are at Annexure-I.
(e): The Government has also approved a special programme on R&M for distribution of High Yielding Varieties seeds in the major R&M growing States during Rabi 2021-22, details of which are at Annexure-II.
Further, the Government has also approved a pilot project for seed mini-kit distribution of Hybrid Mustard through the National Seeds Corporation during Rabi-2021-22, details of which are at Annexure-III.
Moreover, certified seeds of R&M are also being distributed to the farmers in major R&M growing States through approved Annual Action Plans of the State Government.
