Question : ALLEGED DENIAL OF VISA BY CHINA



(a) whether an Indian Air Force Officer who was to visit China as part of defence exchange programme has allegedly been denied visa;

(b) if so, whether the Government has expressed its concern to China regarding the said incident;

(c) if so, the reaction of the Chinese Government thereto;

(d) whether China had earlier denied visa to another officer deployed in Jammu and Kashmir; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) to (e) Government is aware of the discriminatory Chinese visa policy for Indian nationals from Arunachal Pradesh. Government’s position that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India and that there should be no discrimination against visa applicants of Indian nationality on grounds of domicile and ethnicity has been clearly conveyed to the Chinese Government on several occasions and at the highest level.
