Question : CONTROL SYSTEM IN SAIL

(a) whether the SAIL has incurred a loss of Rs.1720 crore during 1999-2000 due to contract system adopted for the transportation of goods;

(b) if so, whether this control system is in vogue since 1986;

(c) whether a group of MPs have registered a complaint to authority in this regard;

(d) if so, the reasons therefor; and

(e) the steps taken/being taken in this regard?

(a) While Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) did incur a loss of Rs.1720 crore during 1999-2000, SAIL has stated that the loss is not attributable to transportation of goods.
