Question : DEVELOPMENT OF CULTURAL PROGRAMMES



(a) whether the Government has taken any steps to promote cultural development programmes in various States of the country including Madhya Pradesh;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(a),(b)&(c): Promotion of the cultural development programmes is a continuous process and is undertaken through festivals, training programmes, seminars, workshops, drama performances, exhibitions etc. organized across the country including Madhya Pradesh by various autonomous organizations under Ministry of Culture with the involvement of eminent practitioners of di- fferent cultural disciplines. Seven Zonal Cultural Centers have been set up at Patiala, Udaipur, Allahabad, Kolkata, Dimapur, Nagpur and Thanjavur with the objective to preserve, promote and disseminate the traditional folk and tribal arts and culture of all the states/Union Territories. The state of Madhya Pradesh comes under the North Central Zonal Cultural Centre, Allahabad and South Central Zonal Cultural Center, Nagpur. As regards Madhya Pradesh, a number of cultural prog- rammes were organized recently. To name a few – Desuj festival of folk and tribal performing arts, Narmada Mahotsav of Sattriya and Manipuri dance, Urdu Poets Meet, All India Women Writers’ Meet, Bharat Rang Mahotsav were organized in Madhya Pradesh. During 2014-15, a total of 620 children (including 21 from Madhya Pradesh) in the age group of 10-14 years were awarded scholarships for developing their talent in various cultural fields.
