(c) the number of cases pending as on date with regard to the functio- ning of schools accredited by the Central Board of Secondary Education?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (SMT. SMRITI ZUBIN IRANI)

(a) to (c): Education, being a subject in the concurrent List of the Constitution, and the majority of schools being under the jurisdiction of the State Governments, it is for the respective State/UT Governments to take appropriate steps in the matter. However, Central Board of Secon- dary Education (CBSE) initiates action on receipt of complaints in respect of its affiliated schools. Provisions have been made under CBSE Affilia- tion Bye-Laws for action against the affiliated schools for violation of norms which can even lead to withdrawal of affiliation depending upon the gravity of violation committed. CBSE does not maintain data of court cases against its affiliated schools.
