(a) Whether the Japanese Government had offered to provide grants to India for debt relief;
(b) if so, the terms and conditions thereof alongwith the
amount of such grants offered by the Japanese Government
for this purpose; and
(c) the areas in which this amount is proposed to be utilised ?

(a) Yes, Sir.
(b) & (c) The grant is to be exclusively utilised for import
of equipments and material in areas of low profitability and basic
human needs such as health, education, environment etc. Total
amount of such grant received so far is approximately Yen 26 billion.
