Question : PILOT TRAINING



(a) whether the Indian Airlines have decided to impart training to the pilots in the operation of Airbus-320 at its Pilot Training Academy in Hyderabad;

(b) if so, the criteria for admitting the pilots and the fee prescribed for the said training; and

(c) the duration of the training and whether all the pilots trained at the academy will absorbed in the Indian Airlines itself?

(a): Yes, Sir. Indian Airlines has started imparting training to eligible pilots for A-320 (Co-pilot) Endorsement, at its Training Establishment in Hyderabad w.e.f. 1.7.2002.

(b): The criteria for admitting the pilots as prescribed by Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) are as follows:

(i) Commercial Pilot`s Licence.

(ii) Multi Engine Land (with a minimum of 25 hours on multi engine aircraft) (10 hours can be completed on an approved multi engine simulator)

(iii) Instrument Rating (IR) on multi engine aircraft.

The fee prescribed for the training is Rs.23 lakhs.

(c): The duration of training is approximately 22 weeks. Simulator and aircraft training would be offered after qualifying DGCA examination. Indian Airlines has not given any assurance either for employment or for any preferential treatment to those who successfully complete the training for absorption in the Indian Airlines itself. However, these candidates are considered along with other for appointment as and when the vacancies are advertised subject to their being eligible and found suitable.
