(a) : In Madhya Pradesh, proved reserves of Iron ore of 21.136 million tonnes occur mainly in Jabalpur, Betul and Gwalior districts. Minor occurrences are also known from Khargone, Mandsaur, Narsinghpur, Raisen, Rajgarh, Sagar, Shivpuri, Sidhi and Tikamgarh areas. Proved reserves of 11.56 million tonnes of Manganese ore are found in Balaghat district with minor occurrences reported from parts of Chhindwara, Dewas, Jabalpur, Jhabua, Kargone, Seoni and Sidhi districts.
(b) : As per IBM Indian Mineral Year Book 2001, Iron ore is mined at five locations in Jabalpur district and two locations in Gwalior district. For Manganese there are eleven mines in Balaghat district and one in Chhindwara district.
