(a) & (b): The New Delhi Municipal Council and the Delhi
Cantonment Board have informed that there is no such case
during the last three years. The Directorate of Local Bodies
has informed that 103 persons were killed in building collapses
in the jurisdiction of North, South and East Delhi Municipal
Corporation as detailed below:

In such cases, Government of NCT of Delhi provides ex-gratia relief
to the families of the dead and injured. As per the scheme of the
ex-gratia relief of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi, in the case of death
of a major in fire and other accidents caused by individual or
natural calamities, an amount of Rs.2 lakh is granted. In the
case of minor, this amount is Rs.1 lakh in each case.
(c): The steps taken against the persons found guilty for the
collapse of buildings include registration of FIRs, arrest of
accused persons and taking departmental action against the
officials found guilty for involvement/negligence.
(d): Whenever any unauthorized/illegal construction is noticed,
action against it is taken by the Building Department of the respective
Zone as per provisions of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957.
Recently, the infrastructure for detection and control of unauthorized/
illegal constructions in Delhi has been revamped. In this context,
a number of measures have been taken which include restructuring and
strengthening of Central Control Room, Zonal Control Room, Demolition
Squad etc. In addition, a Nodal Steering Committee has been set up
by the Honâble High Court of Delhi to monitor actions agains
unauthorized/illegal constructions.
