Question : PRESERVATION OF ANCIENT TEMPLES AND MONUMENTS

(a) whether the Government have taken steps for the proper preservation of ancient temples and other monuments in the country;

(b) if so, the details of such ancient temples and monuments of Madhya Pradesh which are receiving Government`s attention; and

(c) the measures proposed for the proper preservation of monuments of Madhya Pradesh?

MINISTER FOR TOURISM AND CULTURE (SHRI JAGMOHAN)

(a) Only `protected` temples are being preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India.

(b) & (c) Sixty-nine centrally protected monuments in Madhya Pradesh have been identified for conservation and integrated development under the 10th Five Year Plan. Details are given at annexure.
