(a) & (b): The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (Mahatma Gandhi NREGA), 2005, provides for at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every rural household including backward/extremely backward families whose adult member volunteers to do unskilled manual work. This is a demand driven scheme. The data relating exclusively to beneficiaries of backward/extremely backward families under the Scheme are not maintained at the level of this Ministry. However, as per information uploaded by the States/UTs in the Management Information System (MIS), the State/UT-wise number of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe households provided employment under the Scheme, including Uttar Pradesh, is at Annexure-I. District-wise number of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe households provided employment under the Scheme in Uttar Pradesh is at Annexure-II.
