Question : Wage Rates under MGNREGS

(a) whether the Union Government has recently revised the wage rates under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and if so, the details thereof and the formula/criteria adopted therefor,State/UT-wise;

(b) whether all the States have agreed to the formula adopted for wage revision under the scheme;

(c) if not, the names of States which have raised objections to the recent wage revision under the scheme and the steps proposed to be taken by the Union Government for redressal of objections raised by certain States; and

(d) the details of disabled persons employed under the MGNREGS during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise?

(a): The wages of workers under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) are protected against inflation by indexation with the Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labour (CPI-AL). The Government of India has last notified revised wage rates under MGNREGA vide notification dated 31.03.2015 in respect of all States/Union Territories under Section 6(1) of the MGNREGA, 2005. The revised rates are effective from 1st April, 2015 and are given in Annexure-I.

(b): No representation from any State/UT has been received by Ministry of Rural Development against the formula adopted for wage revision under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

(c): Does not arise.

(d): The data in respect of the disabled persons provided employment under MGNREGA during the last three years and current year are given in the Annexure-II.
