Question : ACQUISITION OF LAND



(a) whether rules have been laid down regarding use of the land after fulfillment of theobjective for which the said land was acquired by the Government from the farmers;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether there is any provision for returning the acquired land back to the farmers after fulfilment of the objective;

(d) if so, the number of farmers to whom the land which was acquired for coal mining hasbeen returned after completing the mining work on the said land in the country including Jharkhand, State/UT-wise;

(e) the present condition of the acquired land which was returned to the farmers; and

(f) whether the land is returned after making it arable or leveling it, if so, the details thereof?

(a) No Sir. Under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation & Resettlement Act, 2013 and Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition and Development) Act, 1957, no rules have been laid down regarding use of land after fulfilment of the objective for which the said land was acquired by the Government from the farmers.

(b) In view of the reply to Question (a) above, question does not arise.

(c) to (f) As per information received from Ministry of Coal, there is no provision in Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition and Development) Act, 1957 for returning the land to the farmers after fulfilment .of the objectives.
