(a) & (b) The Synthesis report of the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published in the year 2014 has reported that impacts from climate related extremes such as drought, floods etc. reveal significant vulnerability and exposures of some ecosystems and many human systems to current climate vulnerability. However, no specific studies on impact of climate change in India are available. It is the endeavour of the government to support adaptation and mitigation actions based on scientific assessment of the phenomenon.
(c) The Government has released National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) on June 30, 2008 that outlines eight missions and other initiatives including disaster management response to extreme climate events, by enhan- cing measures for prevention, mitigation, and preparedness to respond to the extreme climate events and setting up early warning system. All state governments are also preparing State Action Plan on Climate Change to address the state specific priorities.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has formulated various hazard specific guidelines for protection of life and property during natural as well as manmade disasters.
