Question : Construction of Stadia

(a) the number and details of stadia in the country for organising International games, State-wise;
(b) the number of new stadia proposed for construction in the country; and
(c) whether the Government proposes to construct stadia in the districts of UP including Allahabad and if so, the details thereof?

(a) There are a number of stadia at various places in the country for organizing international games, but a comprehensive list of such stadia is not maintained by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The stadia selected for hosting the U-17 FIFA World Cup in 2017 includes.
1. JLN Stadium, New Delhi (Under the control of Sports Authority of India).
2. D.Y. Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai
3. JLN Stadium, Kochi
4. Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata
5. JLN Stadium, Fatorda, Goa
6. I.G. Stadium, Guwahati
As far as the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports is concerned, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) manages and operates the following five stadia. All the five Stadia are capable of hosting international sports events:-
1. Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for International events of Athletics.
2. Indira Gandhi Indoor Sports Complex for International events of Gymnastics, Wrestling and Cycling.
3. Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium for International events of Hockey.
4. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Swimming Pool Complex for International events of Swimming, Diving and Water Polo.
5. Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range for International events of Shooting.
(b) & (c): At present there is no such proposal with the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports for construction of Stadia.
