Question : DEPLOYMENT OF POLICE PERSONNEL IN POLICE STATION



(a) whether the Government has taken a decision to deploy two woman sub-inspectors and seven woman constables at every police station in order to improve law and order situation in the NCT of Delhi;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has any proposal to increase the number of PCR vans in NCT of Delhi; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the other corrective steps taken by the Government to improve law and order in the NCT of Delhi?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI HARIBHAI PARATHIBHAI CHAUDHARY)

(a) to (b): Government had sanctioned 1084 additional posts of woman police (woman Sub-Inspector 306 and Woman Constable-778) in executive cadre for deployment in 161 Territorial Police Stations of NCT of Delhi.

(c) to (d): 370 additional PCR vans have been sanctioned to Delhi Police in the year 2013. At present, there is no proposal with MHA to increase the number of PCR vans of Delhi Police. The other corrective steps taken by Delhi Police to improve law and order in the NCT of Delhi are as under :-

# Emphasis on Beat Patrolling System.

# Enhanced police presence and patrolling.

# Identification of vulnerable areas based on crime pattern in each police station.

# Targeted checking of suspicious looking youth on motor bikes.

# Quicker reaction time.

# Gathering of macro-intelligence by District Police as well as specialized units against criminal gangs operating.

# Closer surveillance on known-criminals.

# Follow up of activities of criminals coming out of jail after conviction or release on bail.

# Public participation to control crime through schemes like ‘Eyes and Ears’ Scheme.
