(a) and (b) The Ministry of Environment and Forests is implementing National Afforestation Programme (NAP) Scheme in the country during the Tenth Five Year Plan. The scheme is being implemented through Forest Development Agency (FDA) at forest division level and Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMCs) at village level. 431 FDA projects have been approved in all 28 States to treat an area of 4.46 lakh hectares during last three years (2003-04 to 2005-06). An amount of Rs.689.56 Crores has been released during last three years (2003-04 to 2005-06).
