(b) If so, the details thereof;
(c) the extent to which the Government has been successful in achieving the targets of increasing carbon sinks identified in the NAPCC; and
(d) the steps taken to increase carbon sinks in the country?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE
(DR. MAHESH SHARMA)

(a) and (b) The Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) submitted under the Paris Agreement to United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) are for the period 2021-2030. The Parties to UNFCCC are still negotiating the rules/modalities/guidelines for different elements of the Paris Agreement. Therefore, linking of National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) with NDC under Paris Agreement is not taken up at this stage.

(c) and (d) There are no targets in context of carbon sink in the NAPCC.
