Question : TRANSFER OF QUALITY ASSURANCE FUNCTIONS TO ORDNANCE FACTORIES



(a) whether the Government proposes to transfer many of the Quality Assurance functions to the Ordnance Factories when such functions are already with them;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(c) the role of Quality Assurance agencies are likely to play in such an event; and

(d) the manner in which the Government proposes to ensure quality of defence equipments and stores required by the Armed Forces in terms of volume and technological levels?

(d) The defence stores procured from Ordnance Factories, Defence PSUs and Private Sector are quality assured by Quality Assurance agencies. Pre- despatch Inspection and Joint Receipt Inspections are carried out for stores imported to ensure that the product conforms to the specification.
