Question : Block-level Handloom Clusters

(a) whether the Government is planning to develop block-level handloom clusters in the country, if so, the details thereof, State-wise;

(b) the details of block-level handloom clusters currently functional in Telangana;

(c) the details of the places identified for the establishment of new handloom clusters in the State of Telangana;

(d) the quantum of allocations made for each cluster and the amount so far released under this project; and

(e) whether the Government has received any new proposal from the State Government of Telangana for setting up new handloom clusters in the State; and

(f) if so, the details thereof and the response of the Government thereon?

(a): Block level clusters are sanctioned based on the viable proposals received from State Governments as per the extant guidelines of the scheme. A total of 440 Block Level Clusters have been sanctioned under National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP) and Comprehensive Handloom Cluster Development Scheme (CHCDS) in the country since 2015-16. State-wise details of Block Level Clusters sanctioned are annexed.

(b) to (d): Details of Block Level Clusters (BLCs) sanctioned under National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP) in the State of Telangana are as follows:-

(e) & (f): 11 proposals of new Block Level Clusters were received from State Government of Telangana, which were examined and certain shortcomings were noticed in them. These shortcomings have been communicated to the State Government.
