Question : OFFICIAL LANGUAGE POLICY



(a) the programmes formulated for imlementation and spread of official language policy by her Ministry;

(b) whether the same programme of progressive use of Hindi is repeated time and again since the last three decades;

(c) if so, the reasons therefor ; and

(d) the corrective measures taken in this regard?

(a) to (d) : This Ministry follows the Annual programme prepared every year by the Ministry of Home Affairs, D/o Offcial Language, the nodal agency for this purpose. Implementation of the above programme is a continuous process.


In addition, many steps are taken to propagate use of Hindi. These include Organisation of various competitions i.e. essay writing, debate, antakshari etc. during Hindi Diwas celebration, hindi workshops are organised. House magazines are published. The Progress of implemention is reviewed by the Minister in the quarterly meetings of Hindi Salahakar Samiti. Significant progress has been achieved in this regard which is evident from the fact that this Ministry was awarded `Rajbhasha Shield` as second prize at the national level for the year 1999-2000 for meritorious work done in respect of implementation of Official Language policy of the Goverment.
